Pauline Bolling,
Secretary-Treasurer
pbolling@structuralsteelco.com
Pauline became Co-founder
of Structural Steel Company along with her husband
Ernest in 1956. He had a vision and she stood beside
him to make it become their vision. She did whatever
task was needed to see that the job was done without
complaint. Thanks to her hard work and sacrifice they
built this Company from its humble beginnings into the
respected and financially strong Company it is today.
She has been so successful in part due to her
recognition of the role her employees play in that
success. Pauline and Ernest always considered their
employees as part of an extended family. They strived
to provide safe working conditions, good pay, and
benefits that are rarely seen in small companies. After
the death of Ernest in 1990 she returned to the place
where they worked side by side for over 30 years and
continued to keep that vision alive. She has earned the
respect of all her employees and will always be fondly
thought of as “Mom”. In 1998 she went into
semi-retirement after knee replacement surgery, but
remains and integral part of day to day operations
today.

President
rjamison@structuralsteelco.com
Dick began his career in the Steel industry in 1963 as a
Detailer for Peerless Drafting. He later went to
Roanoke Iron and Bridge where he worked his way up from
Drafting to Project Manager to Sales. He joined the
Structural Steel team in May 1985 as Project Manger
where he quickly earned the trust of Ernest Bolling, the
founder of the company, by demonstrating his ability to
solve problems properly and efficiently. He was made
Vice President in 1989 when Ernest was diagnosed with
cancer. He rose to that challenge and provided a
seamless transition through this sad time and into the
years that followed. In 2006 as the Company approached
its 50th Anniversary Dick was promoted to
President as he continued to oversee the operations of
the Company. He has earned the respect of his employees
and the Contractors he works with by being a man of
integrity and carrying on the Bolling’s tradition of
doing what it takes to do the job right. He has truly
earned his title as “Man of Steel” during his
distinguished 45 year journey.
